Hey Everyone!
初めまして！
My name is A, and I am a little bit of a shy person hence the initial and picture of this bird I found at Lake Biwa. I am from the state of Michigan in the United States, but now am living in Otsu City in Shiga Prefecture working on our shared sister city relations. The truth is that I had requested Shiga Prefecture when applying to work in Japan after living here previously in 2014-2015 as a student.
私はＡです。実は少しシャイな人なので、このニックネームや琵琶湖で見つけた鳥の写真を使います。出身はアメリカのミシガン州ですが、現在ランシング市の姉妹都市である滋賀県大津市に住んでいます。実は日本で働くための申込を書いた際、滋賀県を希望しました。なぜか、２０１４年から2015年まで留学したことができましたから。
My posts on this blog will be aimed towards anything I find interesting in Otsu that hasn’t been covered yet by the other wonderful CIRs.

Emily – Otsu City CIR (U.S.) – 2015-2020
Hey Everyone! My name is Emily.
I am originally from Lansing, Michigan in the United States, but now live in Lansing’s Japanese sister city of Otsu in Shiga Prefecture. I first came to Otsu in 2011, where I worked for three months on the Michigan Boat on Lake Biwa through the “Japan Immersion Program,” an exchange program between Lansing Community College and the Biwako Kisen company that was established in order to strengthen the Lansing/Otsu sister state relationship.
私はアメリカのミシガン州ランシング市出身ですが、現在ランシング市の姉妹都市である滋賀県大津市に住んでいます。2011年に初めて大津に来て、ランシング短期大学とびわ湖汽船の姉妹都市関係を深めるための交流プログラムを通して、びわ湖の「ミシガン」という船で3ヶ月間研修生として働きました。
From that experience, my affinity for the Japanese language and people was strengthened immensely, and soon after returning to the U.S. I transferred to Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Japanese. In 2014 I spent another three months in Japan, strengthening my Japanese skills and increasing my work experience by interning for a company called Nitto Denko in Osaka.
その経験から、日本語や日本人に対する思いが非常に強くなり、アメリカに帰ってからすぐ日本語学士を受けるためにミシガン州立大学に編入し、勉強に励みました。2014年には日本語力の向上と就労経験を積むため、改めて日本で3ヶ月間、大阪にある会社「日東電工」で研修を受けました。
I was thrilled to return to Otsu in 2015, when I became a Coordinator for International Relations for Otsu City Hall, making the move from East Lansing to West Otsu, and I could not be happier to be living and working in this amazing city once again.
国際交流員という仕事を得て、また大津に戻ることができ、とても嬉しく思います。イーストランシングから、大津に引越し、このような素晴らしい都市にもう一度住み、働けることになり、大変嬉しいです。
My posts on this blog will feature information specifically about Otsu and all the reasons why I think it is such an awesome place. I am often asked why I consider this city to be my favorite place in Japan, so instead of simply explaining to you why I love it so much, let me show you!

Meu nome é Rodrigo Brinca e nasci em Guarulhos, SP. Sou Bacharel e Licenciado em Português e Língua e Literatura Japonesa pela Universidade de São Paulo. Em 2009-2010 estudei um ano Língua e Cultura japonesa na Universidade de Kyushu e trabalho como Coordenador de Relações Internacionais (CIR) na Província de Shiga desde abril de 2014.
ホドリーゴ・ブリンカと申します。サンパウロ州にあるグアルリョス市出身です。サンパウロ大学でポルトガル語・日本語日本文学・言語教育を専攻しました。2009年から2010年にかけて一年間九州大学で日本語日本文化研修を受けて、2014年04月から滋賀県で国際交流員として勤めています。
My name is Rodrigo Brinca and I was born in Guarulhos, São Paulo State, Brazil. I majored in Portuguese, Japanese Language and Japanese Literature, with a minor in Language Education at São Paulo University. In 2009-2010 I studied Japanese Language and Culture for one year at Kyushu University and since April 2014 I have been working as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) at Shiga Prefectural Government.
Como CIR, minhas principais funções são de tradutor, intérprete, e de apresentar a Cultura Brasileira em escolas japonesas, por exemplo, para promover a convivência multicultural. É um trabalho muito divertido, variado e cheio de descobertas todos os dias.
国際交流員としての主な仕事は翻訳・通訳と多文化共生を推進するため、学校などでブラジルの文化を紹介することです。仕事には様々な側面があり非常に楽しく、また毎日新たな発見がたくさんあります。
As a CIR I mostly work as a translator, interpreter and giving lectures on Brazilian Culture to students at schools, among other things, as a mean to promote multiculturalism. It’s a fantastic job and every work day is full of discoveries.
Apesar do foco do blog ser em apresentar lugares turísticos, também vou falar um pouco do tipo de coisas que não achamos facilmente em português por aqui, como a história e cultura da província. Às vezes também vou traduzir parte desse conteúdo para o inglês para que os anglo-falantes possam apreciar meu estilo conciso e falta de vocabulário.
このブログでは観光スポットの紹介がメインですが、滋賀県の歴史と文化、言い換えればポルトガル語でなかなか手に入らない情報についてもお伝えしたいと思います。なお英語圏の方々が私の簡潔な文体や粗末な語彙力も味わえるようにたまには投稿の英語訳も載せるつもりです。
Although this blog focuses on showing interesting spots, I’ll also talk about topics that are hard to come by in Portuguese, as the History and Culture of Shiga Prefecture. Sometimes I’ll also translate some of this content into English so that you can enjoy my concise style and lack of vocabulary.

はじめまして！
My name is Madeline Thompson. I was born in rural Massachusetts, but moved to California in 2010 for school. In 2012, I studied abroad at Tsuru University in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Two years later, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a B.A. in Art and a minor in East Asian Studies. I currently work as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) at the Shiga Prefectural Government.
私はマデリーン・トンプソンと申します。アメリカのマサチューセッツ州の郊外に生まれ、２０１０年に大学に入るためにカリフォルニア州に引っ越しました。２０１２年に山梨県の都留文科大学に留学しました。２０１４年に、専攻である美術と副専攻である東アジア史を終了しカリフォルニア大学サンタクルーズ校を卒業しました。ただいま、滋賀県庁に国際交流員として勤めています。
As a CIR, my duties focus mainly on translating documents and interpreting for government officials. Aside from this, I also help promote multiculturalism at local schools by giving presentations to students on various aspects of life in the United States.
国際交流員として主な仕事は通訳・翻訳と多文化共生の推進です。そして、多文化共生を推進するために県内の学校でアメリカの文化を紹介します。
The purpose of this blog is to introduce to you, the readers, what Shiga Prefecture has to offer in terms of tourist attractions, culture, and good old fashioned fun! Hello everyone!
はじめまして！
My name is Adriel Andrade-Romero and I am currently a 3rd year CIR for Shiga Prefecture. I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and studied for 1 year at Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka between 2010-2011 and later graduated from the University of Delaware in 2012. I have been working at the Shiga prefectural government since August, 2012.
